Prof. & Haw Su Cheng (Multimedia University, Malaysia)
Su-Cheng Haw is Professor at Faculty of Computing and Informatics, Multimedia University, where she leads several funded research on the XML databases. Her research interests include XML databases, query optimization, database tuning, data modeling, data management, and data warehousing. She has published around 90 articles in reputable journals and conferences.
She serves in several editorial boards and participated as technical committee member and reviewer boards for several international conferences and journals. Besides, she also received several ad-hoc invitations to review journal/conference articles.
Prof. & IEEE Fellow Ouri E. Wolfson (University of Illinois at Chicago, USA)
Ouri Wolfson's main research interests are in big data, distributed systems, mobile/pervasive computing, smart city, and connectomics. He received his B.A. degree in mathematics, and his Ph.D. degree in computer science from Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences, New York University. He is currently the Richard and Loan Hill Professor of Computer Science at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and an Affiliate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. He is the founder of Mobitrac, a high-tech startup that was acquired by Fluensee Co.; and the founder and president of Pirouette Software Inc. which specializes in mobile data management. He served as a consultant to Argonne National Laboratory, US Army Research Laboratories, DARPA, and NASA. Before joining the University of Illinois he has been on the computer science faculty at the Technion and Columbia University, and a Member of Technical Staff at Bell Laboratories.
Ouri Wolfson authored over 230 publications, and holds seven patents. He is a Fellow of the Association of Computing Machinery (ACM), a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and a University of Illinois Scholar for 2009. He co-authored seven award winning papers, and served as a Distinguished Lecturer for the Association of Computing Machinery. Wolfson was the keynote and distinguished speaker at leading conferences and universities, most recently the The Eighth International Conference on Big Data Analytics (BDA2020) , Dec. 2020, and the International Conference on Transport and Smart Cities (ICoTS 2021) , Sept. 2021.
Ouri Wolfson is the Editor in Chief of the MDPI Journal of Future Transportation , Specialty Chief Editor of Frontiers' Smart Technologies and Cities , and serves on the editorial boards of several journals. He chaired leading conferences, most recently he was the program co-chair of the 2020 Mobile Data Management (MDM) conference. His research has been funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR), Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), NATO, US Army, NASA, the New York State Science and Technology Foundation, Hughes Research Laboratories, Informix, Accenture, and Hitachi Co. During 2006-2015 he served as the Principal Investigator on a $3.1M NSF grant to establish a Ph.D. program in the new discipline of Computational Transportation Science.
Prof. João Manuel R. S. Tavares (University of Porto, Portugal)
João Manuel R. S. Tavares graduated in Mechanical Engineering at the Universidade do Porto, Portugal in 1992. He also earned his M.Sc. degree and Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Universidade do Porto in 1995 and 2001, and attained his Habilitation in Mechanical Engineering in 2015 from the same University. He is a senior researcher at the Instituto de Ciência e Inovação em Engenharia Mecânica e Engenharia Industrial (INEGI) and Full Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering (DEMec) of the Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto (FEUP). He has been the Head of DEMec since June 2023.
João Tavares is co-editor of more than 80 books, co-author of more than 50 book chapters, 650 articles in international and national journals and conferences, and 3 international and 3 national patents. He has been a committee member of several international and national journals and conferences, is co-founder and co-editor of the book series “Lecture Notes in Computational Vision and Biomechanics” published by Springer, founder and Editor-in-Chief of the journal “Computer Methods in Biomechanics and Biomedical Engineering: Imaging & Visualization” published by Taylor & Francis, Editor-in-Chief of the journal “Computer Methods in Biomechanics and Biomedical Engineering” published by Taylor & Francis, and co-founder and co-chair of the international conference series: International Symposium on Computational Modeling of Objects Presented in Images, ECCOMAS Thematic Conference on Computational Vision and Medical Image Processing, International Conference on Computational and Experimental Biomedical Sciences and International Conference on Biodental Engineering. Additionally, he has been (co-)supervisor of several MSc and PhD thesis and supervisor of several post-doc projects, and has participated in many scientific projects both as researcher and as scientific coordinator.
His main research areas include computational vision, medical imaging, scientific visualization, biomechanics, biomedical engineering, and new product development.
Prof. & IEEE Senior Member Chi Man PUN (University of Macau, China)
Prof. Pun received his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science and Engineering from the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2002, and his M.Sc. and B.Sc. degrees from the University of Macau. He had served as the Head of the Department of Computer and Information Science, University of Macau from 2014 to 2019, where he is currently a Professor and in charge of the Image Processing and Pattern Recognition Laboratory. He has investigated many externally funded research Projects as PI, and has authored/co-authored more than 200 refereed papers in many top-tier Journals (including T-PAMI, T-IFS, T-IP, T-DSC, T-KDE, and T-MM) and Conferences (including CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, AAAI, ICDE, IJCAI, MM, and VR). He has also co-invented several China/US Patents and is the recipient of the Macao Science and Technology Award 2014. Dr. Pun has served as the General Chair for the 10th &11th International Conference Computer Graphics, Imaging and Visualization (CGIV2013, CGIV2014), the 13th IEEE International Conference on e-Business Engineering (ICEBE2016), and the General Co-Chair for the IEEE International Conference on Visual Communications and Image Processing (VCIP2020) and the International Workshop on Advanced Image Technology (IWAIT2022), and the Program/Local Chair for several other international conferences. He has also served as the SPC/PC member for many top CS conferences such as AAAI, CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, MM, etc. His research interests include Image Processing and Pattern Recognition; Multimedia Information Security, Forensic and Privacy; Adversarial Machine Learning and AI Security, etc. He is also a senior member of the IEEE.
